What issues matter to you the most in this election? Why?
The second amendment is legalizing sports betting. There is so much advertising that says it will help fund education. There have to be other ways to fund education because I think that gambling is wrong.
How do those issues connect to your life and the lives of those you care about?
It connects to my life because I have been told that gambling is wrong, but now when it is saying that it helps with education, it is just getting confusing.
When did you first start caring about these issues? Was there an event that happened or a conversation you had that piqued your interest?
I started to see more advertising for it on TV, and the more my brother and I saw it, the more we talked about it.
If you could take a class on one or more of these issues or dig deeper through your own research, what else would you want to know? What questions would you want answered?
I would [like] to know how legalizing sports betting funds will help with education and classrooms and why sports betting in particular.
Do you think people your age can affect meaningful change regarding these issues? Why or why not? Have you ever taken any steps to try to address these problems?
I haven’t taken any steps to address these problems, but I know that people my age such as Quinn Riley post on their social media about this and make sure to get their voice heard.
Do you think young voters will be energized by the 2024 election? Do you predict that they will be motivated to vote this year? Why or why not?
I think that this election is different [from] other ones because I feel like people are either one way or another; there is no in-between.
