PODCAST TRANSCRIPT
Hello again, everyone, this is Connor Riley with Global Transmission. Today I’m covering the concerts I’ve been to and my opinions on concerts in general. As of now, I’ve been to seven concerts, five being metal shows and two of them pop. I’ve enjoyed myself at each one, some more than others. This episode will be very opinion-based, but I won’t be calling out any artists specifically. If I had problems with a concert, it does not mean I’m upset with the artist.
Most people probably won’t agree with this, but I usually don’t care for opening acts at shows. They typically overstay their welcome for me. I saw Korn in Kansas City recently, and I like all the bands playing there. Spiritbox and Gojira opened for them. I wasn’t all that familiar with Spiritbox, yet I enjoyed their set a lot despite it being only five songs. Gojira, however, played for almost an hour. I think an opening band should play for 45 minutes at a maximum. Each band played well, but it dragged on a bit longer than I liked.
I’ve been to five metal concerts, including way more artists. I’ve seen Metallica, Limp Bizkit, Powerman 5000, Megadeth, and Korn as main acts. All of those bands had at least two opener bands. Just as pre-show acts, there have been Pantera, Ice Nine Kills, Mudvayne, Sponge and many others. I’ve also been to two pop shows, as I mentioned previously, those being Lizzo and Chapell Roan. Even as a metalhead, I’m not ashamed to admit that I’ve been to these concerts and enjoyed them. It also depends on the people you go with at the concert.
I still haven’t received any responses about my first episode of the podcast. However, it has been interesting to see if I can use music in the previous episode’s draft. I would appreciate some suggestions for content to discuss in my upcoming episodes. Some constructive feedback would also mean the world to me, as long as I don’t have to listen to my podcast with other people.
Overall, I love going to concerts. It’s a good experience to see the community of an artist you like and hear your favorite songs live. I’ve met some nice people at shows like these. I’ve always gone with a friend or family member to these because they make me feel more comfortable around a bunch of strangers. But like I said, the people are usually really nice. Today’s call to action is to support local artists, not just musical ones. Visual arts and music are equally important; it means a lot to them when you show appreciation for their work. Even just one more person at their tiny concert can make a world of difference.
Thank you for listening, everyone! This has been Connor Riley with Global Transmission, signing off.
