“Ralph Breaks The Internet” is a sequel to the 2012 Disney cartoon, “Wreck-It Ralph.”

With “Wreck-It Ralph” being such a smashing hit, the producers of the movie decided to create a second movie, “Ralph Breaks The Internet.” In this movie, video game wannabe-hero villain, Ralph, and the “glitch,” Vanellope, are arcade game characters. When Vanellope’s game, Sugar Rush, shuts down because of a broken steering wheel, she and Ralph travel to the internet to find this one of a kind wheel. To get the steering wheel, Ralph and Vanellope are forced to use the internet to make a profit. They do this by making videos of Ralph doing ridiculous activities and then posting them on a social media platform, in which the videos go viral. After accomplishing this goal with barely any time left, Ralph finds out that Vanellope really doesn’t want to go back to her game. Instead, she wants to join another game, Slaughter Race. Later, the virus, which first was put into Slaughter Race, duplicated him, focusing on his jealousy and greed. Many replicas of Wreck it Ralph were created and began to break the internet, chasing Vanellope.

The journey of Ralph and Vanellope not only created a wild ride for the viewers but realistically showed what the internet is like today. As a virus is let loose in the movie, the whole internet begins to collapse and shut down. Ralph used this virus in an attempt to get Vanellope out of the game, Slaughter Race. His fear and insecurity of loss eventually caused a worldwide problem, affecting everyone on the internet. This may have occurred in a cartoon movie, but many virus problems like this take place on the internet every day. Just like the virus, videos can rapidly spread throughout the internet as well. The minute Ralph’s videos are uploaded, the number of views and likes began to rise by hundreds, thousands and millions. As the videos go viral, social media’s powerful ability to spread information, videos and news is shown.

Although the movie accurately represented the internet and world today, the movie itself had a few hiccups. The main problem was that the plot seemed to end and then a new one began later. In the beginning, the goal was to get the Sugar Crush wheel and find their way back home, and the characters accomplish that goal, but then a whole new plot arises. Ralph accidentally creates duplicates of himself which chase Vanellope. The two different plots are not connected as well as hoped but are still intertwined, though only marginally. Even though there were two main plots which mainly just lengthened the movie, the movie was very entertaining and was very well done. This show also teaches children to be less greedy and jealous and instead be happy for their friends like Ralph eventually did for Vanellope.

The movie was very well produced with many connections to the real world and lessons built in. The characters were as well made as the first movie and it was a very good continuation. Although we felt there was a slight issue with the plots, the movie was still entertaining. As lovers of Wreck-It Ralph and all the characters within the two movies, we definitely recommend this movie to people of all ages.
