84 Lumber Commercial
The Entire Story
Every year patient fans await the best part of American sports, the commercials. This year has obviously not been an easy one. However, the Super Bowl commercials brought some warmth to the harsh America we find ourselves in. The commercials, like always, aimed for the pathos of the audience. Unlike previously, commercials began to target political beliefs within society. Although the commercials were not as funny as previous years, the weight of the commercials was tremendous. One particular advertisement that got America’s attention was the 84 Lumber commercial.
111.3 million people witnessed the Patriots jaw dropping victory, and also witnessed the commercials of the night. Although 84 Lumber did not air its entire commercial on television, the short ad was then linked to a Youtube video where “the story continued.”
The ad basically showed the journey of a Mexican mother and her young daughter to the American-Mexican border. The journey was obviously immensely hard on both the mother and daughter, and once they reached the border, a wall blocked their entrance. The daughter happened upon a gate made of wood that allowed for them to enter, and the commercial ended in a statement from 84 Lumber saying, “the will to succeed is always welcome here.”
84 Lumber’s statement was obviously against the current president who has made his stance on illegal immigration very clear. The interests of 84 Lumber are very clear. 84 Lumber hires a majority of workers from Mexico, and the ad shows illegal immigrants that work is still available for them.
With increasing political problems, the stance of companies like 84 Lumber are very important. The nation is dividing, and so are firms and companies.
