Deafening screams erupt from the crowd as the One Direction You and I fragrance commercial is shown on the big screen near the stage for the fifth time. The band hasn’t even come out yet and some people have fainted already due to excitement. One Direction’s Where We Are Tour arrived at Saint Louis on August 27, 2014. St Louis was one of the mere 25 cities selected to be part of the US section of the tour. It was definitely a big event. Almost 54,000 fans lined up in front of the dome before it even opened on that Wednesday. Jamie Scott, one of the co-writers of some of One Direction’s most famous songs, including “More Than This”, “Midnight Memories” and their new single, “Fireproof”. Although many fans throughout the stadium were upset the the band 5 Seconds of Summer weren’t performing, Scott was a good performer, very talented considering it was one of his first performances with that large of a crowd. After Scott took stage, there was a very long break between his performance and One Direction’s performance. Fans got quite impatient, but instead of getting angry, everyone started doing the Macarena and doing the Mexican Wave. Loud pop music was played through the speakers to get everyone pumped for the performance. The lights dimmed and the Where We Are tour intro video played. Ear-splitting shrieks came from the audience as the band began singing one of their most popular songs, Midnight Memories. A girl next to me said, “They performed as well as everyone thought they would… but even better, somehow”. At the end of the night, the crowd demanded an encore, and One Direction delivered. Harry Styles, one of the most adulated members even dressed in a Michael Sam’s jersey for the last few songs. Overall, it was a crazy night, filled with “Midnight Memories”.
