The CHS Globe Newsmagazine has just been presented with the Gold Crown Award from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. Only 14 total newspapers were awarded Gold Crown Award in the category of High School Newspaper. A total of 1,244 publications including newspapers, magazines and yearbooks were submitted for the the Crown Awards, and only 48 of them, including the Globe, was nominated for the Gold Crown Award.
This year is the very first year that the Globe has been awarded the Gold Crown Award. For the 84 previous years that the Globe has existed, it has only won five Silver Crown Awards. Finally, a Gold Crown is added to The Globe’s collection.
