When senior Tyler Walker drove to the hoop in the fourth quarter of Clayton’s senior night game against Afton High School, Stuber Gym fell silent. The score was tied at 63, and neither team had been able to break away to take a commanding lead in the game.
When Walker’s shot fell through the basket with four seconds left, the Clayton crowd erupted in applause.
For senior night, the Greyhound starting lineup consisted of Walker, Addison Joseph, Paul Kieffer, Varun Chakravarthy and Devante Wells, all seniors. It was also senior night for the cheerleading team, who cheered at numerous sporting events throughout the year.
Joseph led the hounds in scoring with 21 points, closely followed by 19 from Walker.
Though Joseph was satisfied with his performance, he felt the team’s win was what stood out.
“Overall, I thought I did alright, but . . . the team did the best,” Joseph said.
The Greyhounds begin the district tournament next Tuesday.
