Though it may have been overshadowed by budget constraints during Thursday night’s board meeting, CHS seniors who earned National Merit were honored with a reception and a short ceremony. Only 3.3 percent of students who take the PSAT nationwide receive the honor.
Nineteen CHS students received this national praise. The students who recieved National Merit were (in no order) Theodore Franks, Joanna Shoemaker, Laura Kratcha, Ellie Gund, Amanda Garrick, Isaac Ilivicky, Rachel Han, Alex Meneses, Dan Zeng, Noam Kantor, Emily Longman, David Behrend, Eudora Olsen, Emily Widder, Regine Rosas, Hannah Bledsoe, Ian Tarr, Matthew Garrett and Emma Riley.
John Riley, father of Emma Riley, expressed his pleasure in both his daughter and the District.
“We are very proud of our kids to receive this recognition and appreciate the quality educational environment here at Clayton,” he said.
