The head coach of boy’s swimming, Coach Robert Laux, commented on the boy’s team: how they’ve been doing over the course of the season and what the conference meet this week at Rockwell Summit high school should look like for the Greyhounds.
The boys started out as a strong team and only got better over the course of the regular season. “We had a group of kids that made unbelievable progress,†Laux said about the boys who had never been on a swim team before, “if we videotaped them the first week of practice and then played it back even a month later, people would’ve been like ‘there’s no way [that’s the same swimmer]’.†He said that even the swimmers who had been on the CHS team or even a club team before dropped time in events throughout the season.
At the end of the regular season (which includes dual team meets and tri-team meets, NOT conferences), the boy’s meet record was around 12-5 wins-losses for the Greyhounds, according to Laux.
On his hopes for the Rockwell Summit Conference tonight (Tuesday) and Thursday, Laux said “I’m hoping we score at least one person in each event. I’d like to see at least three individual swims make Top 8, and then we’re hoping to qualify our 200 Free relay for State, and maybe some individuals as well.â€
