Missouri senate hopeful Todd Akin (Republican) has caused a stir with recent comments about rape related abortion. In a T.V. interview, Akin was asked whether or not he supports abortion if a person is raped.

“It seems to me first of all, from what I understand from doctors, that’s really rare,” Akin said in the interview. “If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.”Akin is running against Democrat Claire McCaskill.
Republican presidential candidate has come out against Akin’s remarks, and other congressmen have called for Akin’s resignation.
These comments are also a problem for Akin’s campaign, which will lose funding from former supporters.
