The Clayton Baseball season ended on Monday night with a 10-0 loss against John Burroughs. A win would have put Clayton in the district finals.
The Greyhounds allowed six runs in the first inning. After the rough start, coach Craig Sucher called on his bullpen early, entering freshman John Howard into the game. Howard slowed down the John Burroughs offense, allowing four runs in six innings of work.
However, Clayton could never get their bats moving, and lacked the power to get to the opposing starter, who threw a complete game.
This year was an exciting season for Clayton. The team had a solid core of young players, while experienced seniors such as Jeremy Phillips led the way. Though it was a tough loss, Clayton put up a nice run, getting as high as 6th in the area for small schools.
Farewell to Seniors Noah Eby, Fred Barnes, Jeremy Phillips, Sam Fox, Sam Horn, Jack Licata, and Kellen Green.
