The Clayton High School swim team competed in the preliminary events of the conference tournament on Oct. 30.
On Thursday, the finals of the tournament will take place at Rockwood Summit High School. The Greyhounds had many swimmers qualify for finals, including Jack Layden, Andrew Litteken, Nico Salavaggione, Harrison Garrett, Doren Lan, Aaron Graubert, Roger Taylor, Mo Mills, Auggie Mense, Noah Youkilis and Amit Michelson.
The Greyhounds had a few swimmers who are very close to making the state competition. The 200 freestyle relay team (Layden, Salavaggione, Lan, Graubert) are .13 seconds away from qualifying, and Jack Layden is also less than a second from qualifying in the 100 breaststroke.
The Greyhound swimmers will have another chance to qualify for the state competition on Thursday.
